When You’re Functioning, But Something Feels Off
Intentional living coaching is coaching, not therapy, for people who feel stuck or on autopilot. It helps you clarify your values, set boundaries, and move toward a more deliberate life at a pace your system can hold. Katherine Barton, LMFT offers coaching in Orange County and online across California.
Sometimes the struggle isn't a crisis. It's a quiet sense of misalignment. You may be getting everything done, but feeling numb, resentful, scattered, or strangely disconnected from your own life.
Intentional living coaching is for those seasons when you want change, but you don’t want to “push through” your way into it. We slow down enough to understand what’s driving your patterns, and we build forward movement that’s steady, realistic, and sustainable.
Common Reasons People Choose Coaching
Coaching can help when you're not looking to be fixed. You're looking to be supported. Often, it starts with one question: "I can't keep doing it like this… so what now?"
- Feeling stuck in the same thought loops and decisions
- Burnout, emotional fatigue, or constant over-functioning
- Difficulty setting boundaries without guilt or backlash
- Life transitions: changes in relationships, roles, identity, or direction
- Rebuilding routines, motivation, and follow-through
- Clarifying values and priorities when everything feels urgent
- Learning to choose from self-trust rather than self-criticism
A Grounded, Nervous-System-Aware Approach
This work is collaborative and paced. We'll pay attention to what happens in your body when you try to change, because that's often where the real story is. The goal is not intensity. The goal is clarity you can live with.
My coaching is informed by somatic work, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). These approaches help you understand protective patterns, soften rigid inner narratives, and build practical steps for change, without shame.
EMDR is not offered within coaching. If trauma processing is part of what you’re seeking, therapy may be a better fit and we can talk through that in a consultation.
“Katherine is amazing. Please don't hesitate, just reach out to her. She's smart, kind, and all the things you would want in a trusted partner. I recommend her highly!”
— Client, LisaWho Coaching Can Support
I offer coaching for adults and teens. Some people come with a specific goal. Others come because they feel disconnected from themselves and want a steadier way of living, one that honors limits, values, and real life.
- Adults navigating burnout, people-pleasing, and chronic overwhelm
- Teens facing pressure, uncertainty, identity shifts, or motivation challenges
- High-achievers seeking a sustainable rhythm and stronger boundaries
- People in transitions who need clarity and grounded next steps
What Sessions Look Like
Sessions are 60 minutes. We'll start by clarifying what you want to shift and what keeps getting in the way: internally and externally.
Some sessions are reflective: naming patterns, values, and internal conflicts. Others are practical: boundaries, communication scripts, routines, decision frameworks, and next steps. Most are both. We go at a pace that supports follow-through rather than collapse.
