Therapy That Meets You Where You Are

Online therapy is secure, HIPAA-compliant video therapy that offers the same depth as in-person work without the travel. For many people, meeting from home makes it easier to show up consistently. Katherine Barton, LMFT provides online therapy to clients anywhere in California.

Some seasons don't leave much extra room: commutes, caregiving, demanding work, health concerns, co-parenting schedules, or simply the fatigue of getting through the week. Online therapy makes it possible to begin (or continue) healing without needing to reorganize your life to fit it.

If you've been carrying anxiety, burnout, trauma responses, or relationship strain, virtual sessions can offer the same depth and steadiness as in-person work, while letting you stay in the environment that feels most familiar to your nervous system.

Common Reasons People Choose Online Therapy

People often choose telehealth for practical reasons, but many stay with it because it supports consistency. The simpler the logistics, the easier it is to show up, especially when you're already overwhelmed.

  • Busy schedules, long commutes, or limited time between responsibilities
  • Anxiety that makes leaving home feel difficult or draining
  • Burnout and low energy that makes travel feel like too much
  • Parenting demands, childcare constraints, or family logistics
  • Work travel or unpredictable weekly routines
  • Preference for meeting in a familiar, private space
  • Need for therapy access outside South Orange County

A Trauma-Informed Approach, Even Through a Screen

The heart of therapy is the relationship: feeling seen, understood, and met without pressure. Online work can still hold that. We'll slow down, track what your system is doing in real time, and build safety before we push for change.

My approach is trauma-informed and grounded in nervous system awareness. Depending on your needs, I may integrate somatic work, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). These modalities help create both insight and practical movement, without overriding your pace.

Katherine does not offer EMDR at this time. If trauma processing is part of what you’re seeking, we can talk about what support would be most appropriate.

“We would highly recommend Katherine Barton to anyone going through a difficult time and needing some help identifying and working through problems. She helped us through a very challenging family situation with clarity and direction. Her knowledge and guidance made all the difference.”
