You Were Never Meant to Carry This Alone

If you are searching for a therapist near Rancho Santa Margarita, something inside you is asking for attention. Maybe anxiety has become constant. Maybe you are carrying pain from your past that keeps showing up in your present. Maybe you are managing everything well enough but feel disconnected from yourself or your family.

RSM is a community built around connection: families at the lake, kids in Saddleback Valley Unified schools, neighbors who know each other. But connection on the outside does not always mean you feel connected on the inside. Sometimes the hardest part is smiling at the block party while carrying something no one knows about.

I want you to know: whatever you are holding, you do not have to hold it alone. Therapy can be a space where you are finally seen. My office is just minutes away in Mission Viejo, and online therapy is available throughout California.

“Katherine is fantastic! She has so much knowledge in IFS and other therapies. She's always professional and very caring. I always look forward to working with and learning from her.”

Life in RSM

Whether you live near Lake Santa Margarita, in Dove Canyon, Robinson Ranch, or along Antonio Parkway, you know the rhythm here: early commutes to Irvine or San Diego, packed calendars, kids' activities on weekends, and the friendly expectation that you will show up cheerfully for all of it.

Many of my RSM clients are carrying more than anyone knows. They are anxious but hide it well. They are processing old wounds while making school lunches. They are exhausted but keep showing up because that is what they have always done.

O'Neill Regional Park is beautiful. The trails around the lake offer real moments of peace. But a hike cannot process trauma. A walk cannot rewire your nervous system. Some things need more than fresh air. They need care.

What Trauma-Informed Therapy Actually Means

Trauma is not always what people expect. It is not only the big, dramatic events. It can be growing up in a home that was chaotic, critical, or emotionally unavailable. It can be the accumulation of small experiences that taught your nervous system the world was not safe. If it still affects how you feel or respond today, it matters.

When I work with someone carrying trauma, we do not rush. We start with stabilization: helping your nervous system settle enough that deeper work becomes possible without overwhelming you. We pay attention to your body, not just your thoughts, because that is where so much of the healing happens.

Depending on what you need, we might work with Internal Family Systems (IFS) to understand the protective parts of you that developed for good reason, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for practical tools, or somatic techniques to help your body release what it has been holding.

The pace is always yours. I will never push you somewhere you are not ready to go.

Individual Therapy

Individual therapy is a space that belongs entirely to you. You do not have to manage anyone else's feelings. You can be honest about what you are actually experiencing, even if that looks different from what you show the world.

Many of my RSM clients come in because anxiety has become constant, because they feel emotionally flat despite having a life that looks good, or because they are processing past experiences they have never fully talked about.

If trauma is part of your story, we approach it carefully, with safety always first. For those healing from sexual abuse or other deeply personal experiences, I want you to know: you will never be pushed. We go at your pace.

“Katherine created a space where I finally felt safe and understood. Her calm presence helped me heal in ways I didn't think were possible.”

Couples Counseling

Couples counseling can help when the relationship has become strained. Maybe you have drifted into parallel lives, managing the household but rarely connecting. Maybe conflict keeps flaring up over the same issues. Maybe trust has been damaged and you do not know if repair is possible.

I help couples slow down the reactive patterns that keep them stuck. When both people feel safe enough to be vulnerable, something shifts. The distance can close.

If you are looking for a couples therapist near Rancho Santa Margarita, my office is just about 10 minutes away.

Family Therapy

Family therapy is helpful when stress is affecting the whole household. In RSM, that might look like tension with teens, anxiety rippling through the family, parenting disagreements, or a transition like divorce, remarriage, or a move.

I approach family work without blame. Everyone in a family is doing their best. The goal is to understand the patterns and help everyone feel safer with each other.

Intentional Living Coaching

Intentional living coaching supports people who feel stuck or misaligned. Maybe your kids are growing up and you are wondering what comes next. Maybe the life you built no longer reflects who you are. Maybe you keep circling decisions without finding clarity.

This work blends therapeutic insight with practical direction, helping you clarify your values and build a life that feels more like yours.

“Where do I even begin. My work with Katherine has been nothing short of transformational. She has held the safest, most compassionate space for me to unravel, heal, and grow into the person I am today. The IFS work we've done together was immediately powerful and has created changes that continue to ripple through my life. Through our sessions, I've been able to do deep inner child healing that has softened parts of me that were carrying so much pain for so long. Because of Katherine, I feel more connected to myself, more grounded in my body, and more trusting of my own voice. She shows up with such presence, care, and wisdom, and I always leave our sessions feeling lighter, clearer, and more whole. I am endlessly grateful for her and cannot recommend her enough to anyone who is ready to truly heal.”

Online Therapy

Online therapy is available throughout California. For busy RSM residents, it can be a practical option if your schedule changes week to week, you travel for work, or you simply prefer meeting from home.

I bring the same care and attention to online sessions. What matters most is that we have a consistent, safe space.

You Deserve Support

Many people wait until they are in crisis before reaching out. But you do not have to hit bottom to deserve help. If anxiety has become your constant companion, if old pain keeps surfacing, if your relationships are suffering, that is enough.

I work with anxiety, depression, trauma and PTSD, relationship strain, and life transitions.
